It’s not Monday morning, so why is Grand Parade in your inbox? Well it’s because our road safety strategy is working as designed, which means it’s working against it’s intended outcome. As a result children and their parents are dying and only you can prevent it from getting worse.
The short version is our road safety strategy is designed to make roads safer by allowing drivers the space to make and then correct their driving mistakes. And although this does help a lot of people avoid crashes (collisions are down), the people who use that extra space to keep making mistakes end up maiming and killing more people as collisions go down, which is what is happening in Halifax. If you want your fellow Haligonians to not be killed by your tax dollars, you need to reach out to your councillor and tell them to use their power to design our roads that prevent our most dangerous road users, aka drivers, from making an increasing number of fatal, but preventable mistakes.
